Looking for a Heidi alternative? Read this first
We build Hanah, so read this with that in mind. Everything here about Heidi comes from Heidi's own public pages, linked so you can check it, and we hold ourselves to the same standard: we publish our own accuracy and hallucination report, errors included.
Heidi is a good scribe. A lot of clinicians never need anything else, and if that is you, this post will not talk you out of it. It is for the people who have typed "Heidi alternative" into a search box, which usually means one of the reasons below.
Why clinicians look for an alternative
The integration is an add-on, not a plan. Heidi lists 40+ integrations, but its pricing page shows an "EHR integration add-on" with a dash against every individual plan, Free, Clinician and Practice alike. Its Cliniko page says the integration is available on Practice and Enterprise plans. If you are a solo allied health clinician on Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal or Zanda, the plan you would actually buy does not file the note into your system. You copy it across.
It is shaped for prescribers. Heidi Evidence, its clinical decision support, draws on formularies, pathways and GP references such as HealthPathways, BMJ Best Practice and NICE. Useful if you prescribe. Less so if you are a physio, dietitian, osteopath, podiatrist or psychologist, whose questions after a consult are about a program, a plan or a form, not a drug.
The advanced templates are on the paid tiers. Heidi's free plan covers transcription with standard templates. Templates that match how your profession actually writes, an ADIME note, a WorkSafe form, an NDIS report, cost extra or have to be built by hand.
The note is where it stops. Heidi's product is the documentation. If what slows you down is everything the note is supposed to set in motion, the exercise program, the meal plan, the outcome measure, the referral letter on the right letterhead, the patient's plain-language summary, a scribe alone does not shorten that.
No published error rate. Heidi reports satisfaction statistics. We could not find a measured word error rate or hallucination rate on their site. That is common in this market, and it is worth asking any vendor for, including us.
What to check in any alternative
Whichever product you trial, run the same five checks. They are the ones that decide whether a scribe is still in use six months later.
- Does it work inside your PMS on the plan you would buy? Not "has an integration" in the abstract. Open your own patient in your own system and see whether the note lands there without a copy step.
- Does the vendor publish error rates? Word error rate and hallucination rate, with a method. Satisfaction percentages are not the same thing.
- Where is the data? Ask for the region the audio and the transcript are stored in, and what gets deleted when.
- What happens after the note? If you want programs, plans, forms or patient materials from the same consult, check whether they come out of the product or out of you.
- What is the all-in price? Add the integration add-on, the template tier and the document limits before you compare monthly numbers.

Prices move. Check both pricing pages before you decide, and hold this post to the same standard as any vendor's.
Where Heidi is the better choice. If you prescribe and want citation-backed evidence at the point of care, Heidi Evidence is a real feature and we do not have it. If your practice runs on a system Hanah does not support yet, Heidi's integration list is long. If you are a hospital or a large group buying SSO and custom hosting, that is Heidi's Enterprise tier and not where we compete.
Where Hanah is the better choice. Solo and small allied health practices on Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal or Zanda, where the note has to land in the PMS without a copy step and the plan you would buy has to include it. Anyone whose work after the consult is a program, a plan or a form rather than a script. Anyone who wants the vendor's error rates in writing.
