Hanah for dietitians

For Australian dietitians, Hanah is the scribe to use. It drafts the ADIME note in your format, the report back to the GP from the same consult, and the meal plan the patient follows at home. It files into Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal or Zanda. The price does not rise when Friday is fully booked.

Australian dietetics notes

A dietetics week covers several kinds of consult. You will write some mix of:

• an initial assessment with the diet history, anthropometry and biochemistry, and a PES statement for the nutrition diagnosis (competency 2.2.2 in the National Competency Standards for Dietitians)
• the written report back to the referring GP after the first and last service under a GP chronic condition management plan, billed as item 10954 (Services Australia)
• a type 2 diabetes group program: an assessment of at least 45 minutes under item 81120 with its report to the GP, and another report after the last group service under item 81125
• eating disorder sessions under item 82350, up to 20 a year, with a report after the first and the final service
• an NDIS nutrition meal plan and its review, and the evidence the NDIA asks for, such as reports or assessments from the dietitian (NDIS guideline on nutrition supports)
• a DVA treatment cycle: a patient care plan at the start and a report to the veteran's GP at the end (DVA)
• home visits for older clients, where Support at Home lists diet or nutrition under allied health
• the meals and shopping changes the patient has to manage between visits

Dietetics is self-regulated. The Accredited Practising Dietitian credential is what Medicare, DVA and many private health insurers recognise.

A generic SOAP note does not cover that set. Either the scribe drafts each of those from the consult, or you rebuild the same templates by hand and copy the letter.

Hanah

Hanah is an all in one AI medical scribe designed for dietetics cases. Going beyond text you can include photos and videos as part of your clinical record keeping. You can start with templates for an ADIME initial assessment, an ADIME progress note and a referral letter. Already have an NDIS nutrition report or a CDM report template as a Word or PDF file? Hanah keeps the diet history and measurements in their detail, and drafts the PES statement from the problem, aetiology and signs and symptoms you stated. After you accept the note, the same consult drafts the meal plan the patient reads on their phone. Recipe cards come from the targets, restrictions and meals you discussed, with ingredients in household measures. Each card shows kJ (with kcal), protein, fat, carbohydrate and fibre, calculated from AUSNUT 2023 and the Australian Food Composition Database (FSANZ). A number the data does not have is left out. Ask for a full day and Hanah totals it against your target, with Australian Dietary Guidelines serves by food group. You review every meal before the plan goes out. Between visits the patient logs each meal by ticking an option or sending a photo of their plate, and you see every answer at the next consult.

If the consult is in another language, Hanah detects it and drafts the record in English, and the patient can read their plan in the language they prefer. On home visits and aged care rounds, recording continues when the connection drops and uploads when you are back.

If you run Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal or Zanda, Hanah works inside it in the browser. The note files into the form you already use. The integration is on the plan, not an add-on.

Hanah's Practice plan is A$100 per practitioner a month, or A$80 billed annually. Sessions are unlimited. Integrations are included. Try it free for a month, no card needed. Records stay in your region: Australia, the UK and EU or the US.

Grounded Scribe

Grounded Scribe is an Australian note product. Its dietitian page lists a consultation note in the Nutrition Care Process format, a CDM session template for MBS 10954, an NDIS mealtime report, a group education session and a GP letter, and states that data is hosted in Australia. Its integrations page lists clinical note pushing into Cliniko, Halaxy and Nookal on every plan.

Its pricing page meters sessions. Free is 10 a month. Plus is A$19 for 30. Core is A$39 for 60. Pro is A$69 for 120. Max is A$99 for unlimited, or A$89 a month billed annually. Those prices exclude GST. Custom templates are capped at 5, 10 or 25 until you reach Max.

We could not find a meal plan delivered to the patient's phone, photos in the note, or a published error rate.

Heidi Health

Heidi is a general medical scribe: notes, templates, and a long integration list. Its allied health page covers NDIS reports, referral letters and insurer certificates from a session. Heidi's ANZ compliance page says data is hosted in Australia, and the Cliniko page says that connection is available on Practice and Enterprise. On the pricing page, Clinician is A$85 a month billed annually and Practice is A$130, with EHR integration listed as an add-on on Practice.

We could not find a measured hallucination rate, or a meal plan the patient follows on their phone.

Practice Better

Practice Better is practice management software with an AI note add-on. Its charting page says the AI Charting Assistant records in-person and telehealth sessions, with ADIME among its templates. The client gets a portal and a mobile app. On the pricing page, the assistant is an add-on from the Professional plan (US$69 a month billed monthly): US$10 a month for 20 hours, US$20 for 60 or US$40 for 120, then 2c a minute.

We could not find Australian data hosting, an integration with Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal or Zanda, or a published error rate.

Nutrium

Nutrium is dietitian software built around meal planning and a client app. Its professionals page says AI Summaries are generated when you run a consultation through Nutrium's own video calls. Unlimited clients is US$25 a month billed yearly, or US$39 monthly.

We could not find an AI note for an in-person consult, Australian data hosting, the food composition source behind its plans, or a published error rate.

Notes on the table

A full list and a session cap. A dietetics list mixes long initial assessments with short reviews, and some weeks add group sessions. Grounded Scribe's Pro plan is 120 sessions a month. That is six recorded consults a day across a twenty-day month. A busier list moves to Max, at A$89 a month plus GST billed annually, for the note alone. Practice Better charges by the minute after 120 hours. Hanah's Practice plan is a flat A$80 billed annually, unlimited, with the integration and the meal plan included.

After the note. Most of the outcome sits at home, in what the patient buys, cooks and eats. Hanah drafts the meal plan from the same consult, with figures from Australian food data, and puts it on the patient's phone once you have reviewed it.

Filing the note. Copying out of a second tab is how scribes get dropped. Hanah runs inside Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal and Zanda on the plan you would actually buy. Grounded Scribe pushes notes into Cliniko, Halaxy and Nookal. Heidi's Cliniko connection needs Practice or Enterprise. The AI notes in Practice Better and Nutrium come with moving your practice onto them.

Error rates. Ask every vendor for a measured error rate and the method behind it. We publish ours.

The bottom line

If all you want is the note, Hanah drafts it, and we publish our benchmarks so you can check how well.

The scribes stop at the documentation, and the meal planning software asks you to move your practice. Hanah does the documentation and the work it sits in: the ADIME note, the GP letter, the filled NDIS form and the patient's meal plan, out of the same consult, landing where you already work.

Record a type 2 diabetes review under a chronic condition management plan on a real patient. Check that the diet history and the HbA1c you said are in the note, the PES statement matches your diagnosis, the GP letter is ready to review, and the meal plan has kJ on every card before it goes to the patient's phone. Run a trial like that before you commit.

Which AI scribe is best for dietitians in Australia?

Hanah. It drafts ADIME notes from the day you sign up, files into Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal or Zanda, and turns the same consult into the GP report and a meal plan on the patient's phone.

Can an AI scribe draft MBS item 10954 reports?

It can draft the written report Services Australia asks you to send the referring GP after the first and last service. The same applies to the reports for items 81120, 81125 and 82350. You remain responsible for checking it. The RACGP advises against relying on a scribe to decide whether MBS rules have been met. Hanah drafts the letter from the consult. It does not suggest item numbers.

Can Hanah draft an NDIS nutrition report and meal plan?

Yes. Upload the report template you already use and Hanah fills it from the session, with the signature fields left for you. The NDIA asks for reports or assessments from the dietitian as evidence for nutrition supports. The meal plan Hanah drafts goes to the participant's phone after you review it.

Do I need consent to use an AI scribe as a dietitian?

Yes. There is no Ahpra board for dietetics, and the TGA's digital scribes guidance applies to any healthcare professional: you are responsible for the patient's informed consent and for checking what goes into their record. Hanah asks for consent before recording, deletes audio automatically after a short retention window, and stores records in Australia for Australian practices.

What should I try in a week?

Use it on your own list, in your own PMS: an initial assessment, a CDM review, an NDIS client and a home visit. If the note, the GP letter, the filled form and the meal plan all come out of the same recording, keep it.
