Hanah for psychologists

For Australian psychologists, Hanah is the scribe to use. It drafts the session note in your format, the report back to the referring GP at the end of a course of treatment, and the therapy plan the client keeps between sessions. It files into Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal or Zanda. The price does not rise when every hour of the week is booked.

Australian psychology notes

A psychology week covers more than the session note. You will write some mix of:

• an intake assessment and a progress note for every session, often with a mental state examination and a risk assessment
• the written report to the referring practitioner at the end of each Better Access course of treatment, covering the assessments carried out, the treatment provided and recommendations on future management. An initial course is up to 6 services, within 10 individual services a calendar year (MBS Online, note MN.7.4)
• the same report for clients seen by video or phone, and a check that a new referral comes from the client's MyMedicare practice or usual medical practitioner, required since 1 November 2025 (MBS Online factsheet)
• the NDIS evidence of psychosocial disability form, or a treating professional's statement, with a functional capacity measure such as WHODAS, LSP-16 or HoNOS (NDIS)
• for a WorkSafe Victoria claim, the psychology treatment planning form by the sixth service and the PS109 treatment review form within the first 9 months (WorkSafe Victoria claims manual)
• for a veteran, the end of cycle report to the GP after 12 sessions or a year, whichever ends first (DVA)
• written, tool-specific consent from the client before an AI scribe is used, which the APS practice guidelines published in February 2026 require, alongside the Psychology Board's Code of conduct in force since 1 December 2025
• the skills and strategies the client has agreed to practise before the next session

A generic SOAP note does not cover that set. Either the scribe drafts each of those from the session, or you rebuild the same templates by hand and copy the letter.

Hanah

Hanah is an AI medical scribe set up for psychology from the day you sign up. You can start with templates for a DAP intake assessment, a DAP progress note and a referral letter. Work in SOAP, BIRP or GIRP? Hanah fills the headings you give it. Add a mental state examination section and Hanah fills it from what you observed and said, leaving out anything you did not comment on.

The note stays factual and neutral about what the client said and did, and relates today's session to your working formulation. Already have the NDIS evidence form, a WorkSafe treatment planning form or the DVA end of cycle report as a Word or PDF file? Hanah fills that file from the session.

At the end of a Better Access course, pick the sessions and Hanah drafts one letter to the referring GP from all of them. We show a full session in how to write DAP notes with an AI scribe.

Recording continues when the connection drops and uploads when you are back. If a client speaks another language in the session, Hanah detects it and drafts the record in English.

If you run Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal or Zanda, Hanah works inside it in the browser. The note files into the form you already use. The integration is on the plan, not an add-on.

After you accept the note, the same session drafts a therapy plan the client reads on their phone in the Hanah app: what you are working on together in words they would recognise, one card for each skill to practise, and a check-in before the next session. Diagnostic labels stay out unless you discussed them openly. A risk and safety section sits alongside the plan, and only you can see it. Later sessions update the plan, and nothing new reaches the client until you approve it.

Hanah asks for consent before recording. Audio is deleted automatically after a short retention window. Neither Hanah nor its providers train models on clinical data. Records for Australian practices are stored in Australia (Australian Trust Centre).

Hanah's Practice plan is A$100 per practitioner a month, or A$80 billed annually. Sessions are unlimited. Integrations are included. Try it free for a month, no card needed.

Heidi Health

Heidi is a general medical scribe. Its mental health page says it turns a therapy session into progress notes, risk assessments and letters. Its pricing page offers unlimited AI documentation on the free plan, with advanced templates on Clinician at A$85 a user a month billed annually. Practice is A$130, billed annually.

Heidi's Halaxy page and Cliniko page say those connections are available on Practice and Enterprise. Heidi publishes time-saved figures. We could not find a measured hallucination rate, or a plan the client keeps between sessions.

NovoNote

NovoNote is the AI scribe inside NovoPsych, the Australian psychometrics platform. Its template library includes a GP letter for the end of a course of treatment that pulls in NovoPsych assessment results. NovoPsych's comparison page says it runs on Australian servers.

The pricing page counts Pro Actions. A completed assessment uses one, and so does each AI note or document. Pro is A$30 a month for 50. Platinum is unlimited at A$83.25 a month billed annually, or A$999 a year. A NovoPsych support article describes copying the note or uploading a file into your practice software, with a Halaxy browser extension in development.

We could not find a published error rate, or a Cliniko, Nookal or Zanda integration.

Grounded Scribe

Grounded Scribe is an Australian note product. Its own psychology comparison lists 16 MBS templates for the Better Access items and Australian data storage. Its integrations page lists Cliniko, Halaxy and Nookal, with clinical note pushing, on all plans.

Its pricing page meters sessions. Free is 10 a month. Plus is A$19 for 30. Core is A$39 for 60. Pro is A$69 for 120. Max is A$99 for unlimited, or A$89 a month billed annually. Those prices exclude GST. Custom templates are capped at 5, 10 or 25 until you reach Max.

We could not find a Zanda integration or a published error rate.

Lyrebird Health

Lyrebird is an Australian medical scribe aimed at GP workflows. It publishes a buyer's guide for psychologists that covers tool-specific consent. Its pricing page gives a free plan of 50 consult or dictation actions and 10 documents a month, and states "No EMR Integrations". Pro is A$160 a month billed annually, with Best Practice, Cubiko and BetterConsult.

Its integrations page lists GP and hospital systems. We could not find a Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal or Zanda integration, or a published error rate.

Notes on the table

A full caseload and a session cap. Six or seven fifty-minute sessions make a normal clinical day. Grounded Scribe's Pro plan is 120 sessions a month. That is six recorded sessions a day across a twenty-day month. NovoNote's 50 Pro Actions cover your notes, your letters and every measure a client completes. A busier list moves to Max or Platinum for the note alone. Hanah's Practice plan is a flat A$80 billed annually, unlimited, with the integration and the client plan included.

The report back to the GP. Better Access asks for a written report at the end of every course, and DVA asks for an end of cycle report. Hanah drafts that letter from the sessions you choose.

After the note. Much of the work in therapy happens between sessions. Heidi, NovoNote and Lyrebird do not publish a plan the client keeps. Hanah drafts the therapy plan from the same session, puts the skill cards on the client's phone, and keeps the risk and safety section on your side.

Filing the note. Copying out of a second tab is how scribes get dropped. Hanah runs inside Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal and Zanda on the plan you would actually buy. Heidi's Halaxy and Cliniko connections need Practice. Grounded Scribe covers Cliniko, Halaxy and Nookal. NovoNote is copy and paste for now. Lyrebird's integrations are GP and hospital systems.

Consent and error rates. The APS guidelines ask you to tell the client where their data is stored and how it is used. Hanah's Australian Trust Centre gives you that answer in writing. Ask every vendor for a measured error rate and the method behind it. We publish ours.

The bottom line

If all you want is the note, Hanah drafts it, and we publish our benchmarks so you can check how well.

Hanah does the documentation and the work it sits in: the DAP note, the filled NDIS or WorkSafe form, the report to the GP and the client's therapy plan, out of the same session, landing where you already work.

Record the last session of a Better Access course on a real client. Check that what the client said is in the note in neutral language, the report to the GP covers the assessments, the treatment and your recommendations, the risk section stays on your side, and the skills you agreed are on the client's phone. Run a trial like that before you commit.

Which AI scribe is best for psychologists in Australia?

Hanah. It drafts DAP notes from the day you sign up, files into Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal or Zanda, and turns the same sessions into the report to the GP and the plan the client keeps.

Can an AI scribe draft the Better Access report to the GP?

It can draft the written report MBS Online asks for at the end of each course of treatment: the assessments carried out, the treatment provided and recommendations on future management. You remain responsible for checking it, and Ahpra says the same of any record drafted with AI. Hanah drafts the letter from the sessions you pick. It does not suggest item numbers.

What do the APS guidelines say about AI scribes and consent?

The APS practice guidelines published in February 2026 require written informed consent for each specific tool. A generic AI disclosure is not enough. Hanah asks for consent before recording, and its Australian Trust Centre covers storage and deletion.

Can an AI scribe fill an NDIS or WorkCover form?

Hanah can. The NDIS evidence of psychosocial disability form comes as a Word file and a PDF. Upload the file you use and Hanah fills it from the session. Signature fields are left for you.

What should I try in a week?

Use it on your own caseload, in your own PMS: an intake, a few progress sessions, the last session of a Better Access course and an NDIS or WorkSafe form. If the note, the GP report, the form and the client's plan all come out of the same recordings, keep it.
