Podiatry documentation

A foot consult ends in more than a SOAP note.

A diabetic foot assessment has a shape: pulses, monofilament site by site, and a risk category that sets the recall interval. Nail surgery has consent, a procedure record and aftercare instructions that go home with the patient. A biomechanical assessment carries the measurements an orthotic prescription is built from, and Hanah drafts each of these from the consult.

Start on the podiatry templates Hanah ships with, or bring the ones your practice already uses. The wording is yours, and Hanah drafts into it.

Diabetic foot assessment

Vascular and neurological findings go where you expect them: DP and PT pulses, Doppler, ABI or TBI, the 10 g monofilament site by site, vibration, skin and deformity. The risk category and review interval you set follow in your template's own words.

Wound and ulcer review

Site, dimensions, wound bed, periwound skin, exudate, offloading and dressing are drafted the same way each visit. Last visit's numbers come forward into this one, and the note shows whether it is healing.

Nail surgery

The procedure sits in one record with consent, anaesthetic, technique such as a partial nail avulsion with phenol, tolerance and dressing. Hanah drafts the aftercare instructions in plain language and they go to the patient's phone before they leave the chair.

Biomechanical assessment and orthotic prescription

Range of motion, foot posture index, navicular drop, gait and footwear findings are drafted into your assessment form. The prescription, issue and review notes that follow the device each pick up what the last one said.

Letters to the GP and referrer

Hanah drafts a referral or progress letter back to the referring GP from the same consultation as the note, in the format your clinic sends. Nothing in the letter goes beyond what the consult supported.

Care plans and home advice

Stretches, footwear advice, offloading and wound care are explained without jargon and kept in the patient's app between visits. A follow-up tells you whether they did any of it.

How it works
  1. Step 1 Information assistant

    Walk in already prepared

Last session's plan, open goals, recent PROM scores, and the follow-up actions you recorded — brought together for your review.

  2. Step 2 AI Scribe

    Press record, stay present

Every detail captured live, in any language, even mid-sentence code-switching.

  3. Step 3 Home programs & outcomes

Capture the plan as you go

Hanah drafts the care plan you agreed with your patient, using the goals, activities and follow-up you stated in the consultation.

  4. Step 4 Documentation

    The rest writes itself

Draft your documents, forms and letters from the findings and decisions you stated, ready for your review.

  5. Step 5 Patient Health Literacy

Patients stay on plan between visits

Informed and kept in the loop, with communication scanned for jargon and explained — an informed patient is an engaged patient!

    For Amira Your clinician’s summary

Your clinician recorded plantar fasciitisPlantar fasciitis — irritation of the thick band under your foot that runs from heel to toes, usually worst with the first steps of the day., and noted improvement. Follow the walking plan you agreed together.

  6. Engagement

    Engaged patients come back

When the plan lives in their pocket, follow-ups get booked, not forgotten — the loop that turns a good visit into a lasting outcome.

Deep practice management integration

Hanah works inside the software your practice already runs on.

Hanah embeds right into your practice management system in the browser — record on the patient page you already have open, and the finished note lands in that patient's chart. No second tab, no double entry, no migration.

  • Sits inside your PMS in the browser — you never leave the patient you're on
  • Notes go into the correct patient record, in your own template
  • Two-way sync where your system offers an API — connect in minutes with a secure key
  • Patient history stays where it is — your PMS remains the source of truth

Hanah is an official Cliniko connected app.

On a different system? Hanah still runs — notes, patient engagement and insights all work standalone while we build your integration. Tell us which system you use →

Common questions

What Hanah is, in plain terms.

What notes does Hanah write for podiatrists?

A podiatrist starts with an initial assessment, a progress note and a discharge summary in SOAP format, plus a referral letter. You can edit these or build your own, such as a diabetic foot assessment or an orthotic prescription.

Can patients get a care plan between appointments?

Yes, if you use patient engagement. The care plan explains where things stand and the agreed plan, with a card for each thing the patient does between appointments (what it is, how often and what it's for) and a check-in question on how they're going. Patient engagement is optional; the notes work without it.

What is Hanah?

Hanah is a platform for modern health practices, and it starts with an AI scribe. The scribe drafts your notes, letters and referrals from the consult, and it runs standalone in your web browser or on iPhone, iPad and Android, with nothing to migrate. It doesn't need a practice management system or the browser extension. If your practice uses Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal or Zanda, the optional Hanah browser extension puts the scribe inside it and sends each note to the right patient record. Care plans and a patient app that keep patients on plan between visits, and analytics across the practice, are there when you want them. You don't need either to use the scribe.

Is Hanah an AI scribe?

Yes. Hanah's AI scribe drafts your notes, referrals and care plans from the consult, in your own voice, and it can be the only part of Hanah you use. It runs inside Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal and Zanda through the browser extension, or standalone if you don't use a practice management system. Patient engagement and practice analytics are in the same account if you want them later, but the scribe doesn't depend on them.

Does Hanah make diagnoses or treatment decisions?

No. Hanah helps you find and summarise information in existing notes and documents, and draft records of the findings, diagnoses and plans you provide. It supports your search for evidence within those materials and your review of the sources; it does not independently diagnose, choose treatment or decide what to investigate next. You assess the evidence, make the clinical decisions and check every draft against its sources.

Can I use just the scribe?

Yes. Record the consult or dictate afterwards, review the draft, and send the note to your practice management system or keep it in Hanah. You don't have to set up care plans, invite patients or use the analytics, and patients aren't sent anything unless you choose to send it. If you want patient engagement later, it's in the same account, with nothing to move across.

Who is Hanah for?

Hanah is built for allied health, GP, and specialist practices — from solo practitioners to multi-clinician groups — and the owners, managers, and clinicians who run them.

Where is my data stored, and is Hanah secure?

Patient records are stored in Australia, the UK or the US. New Zealand practices are served from Australia, and we also serve practices in Europe. Our data processing agreement lists which regions each step happens in. Bank-level encryption, and no model training on patient data. The regional Trust Centers list the full controls.

How quickly can a practice get started?

About 10 minutes to onboard each clinician. Most practices have the scribe live in week one and patient engagement switched on by week two.

See Hanah running your practice in 20 minutes.

We'll walk through the scribe, the patient app, and the practice dashboard on your actual workflow — not a sandbox.
